Dear Pentaxians:

OOPS! Correction. The Kowa lens with 500mm adapter attached comes in at 4.34 lb, almost exactly the same weight as a 50-500mm Bigma. The 500mm f4.5 Sigma is 6.82 lb. = better than a kilogram more. The two 500mm lenses are both are about 3.5 inches longer than a Bigma collapsed to 50mm.The Kowa comes with what appears to be a very long dovetail mount on the rotating tripod mount, which probably adds some ounces to the weight just as a long Arca Swiss plate would add a few ounces to either Sigma.

Isn't a Pentax scope attached to your camera just the same?

Yeah as I mentioned earlier making scope and telescope adapters is nothing new, but most of these people don't like facts and took what I was saying as bashing the OP.

But this is a bit fancier, it includes the teleconverters built into three different scope adapters Nothing different than dedicated teleconverters like the Pentax 1.4x L and 2x L...

As one would expect the 500 4.5 is faster so therefore bigger glass. If you want slower, aren't concerned with taking a gamble on IQ, want lighter, don't need the AF, and have ruled out the many quality MF 300 2.8s for very reasonable prices then consider this lens.

I am always considering bigger glass. Analyzing the facts; the benefits of the lens don't offset the high price and advantages of the other options out there for me.
