You blokes, spending 5 grand plus on a lens. Don't you have wives? I just spent $700 on a second hand Sigma 70-200 APO EX DG f2.8, and I feel like I've given birth, financially speaking. Anyway, good luck to you. Your pictures look great.
By the way, here's a snap I took with my old K100D Super and Tokina 80-400.

Nice one sam with your Tokina. Yes I do have a wife, but its taken a bloody long time before I could get the kit I wanted and it's only because I refuse to retire. I am going to have to live another 30 years to get the most out of my lenses. Scary. Looks like you are getting the goods with your camera and lens.

Just one.;~)

I'm retired but she's still working and we always kept separate accounts and as long as I can pay my half of household expenses, there's no problem. $5K is a bunch of change to drop for a lens but as I approach 70, deferred gratification becomes less viable.

In my experience, btw, a $5,000 lens is much less expensive than a $3,000 boat.

UPDATE: I had no problem mounting and using the lens on my Manfrotto gimbal. I plan to use the lens on a monopod for the most part, though..

Less expensive than a $1500 boat also. My boat was pilfered out of my driveway and when I got home and found it missing my first thought was. "Wow, someone stole my boat" and my second thought was. "Wow, I can use that space to park in now"

Yes, BIF photography (no pun) is a challenge - cracking shot!

Well done.

I can't see the serial numbers on the engines. Fabulous pic. I have slower and much older military aircraft from Point Cook often flying overhead, and they are just as sexy.
