Anyone know why Amazon's price on this lens just went up + $100?

Hard to say. Maybe a new move by Ricoh to make more money? It is still available on B and H for 569 -- probably while quantities last. Prodigital 2000 has it for about the same price too.

Hopefully that isn't Ricoh's first move (raise lens prices) as the Pentax owner. I checked the DA15 and DA40 and they are still at the same prices.

Amazon just notified me that this lens has went up to $699.95????? I'm like you abacus, hope this isn't their first move!

I said it more jokingly. Ricoh has not had time to make any input into lens or camera body pricing -- that certainly won't come for a few months. Amazon's prices really fluctuate based on stocks that they have of a given product -- what is selling, etc. B and H is a more stable place to buy from -- although I always compare prices from one site to another.

Whatever Ricoh do pricewise can't be worse than Hoya's antics. Wasn't there one lens which tripled in price during their tenure?
