The problem is, I dropped quite a bit of money on a K10D. I can't really afford that kind of a lens. Are there any old lenses that are cheap and compatible with the K10D that you guys recommend?

I hear nothing but good things about the older Vivitar Series One zooms. They are fully manual lenses, but you can use them on your K10.

Has Vivitar dropped out of the lens business? They have nothing on their website about lenses. Stratman, I'll look into the Series One by Vivitar. How's this lens? It's an MF Tamron 80-210mm f/3.8-4 telephoto zoom lens.

Tamron 80-210mm f/3.8-4 Zoom Lens Pentax 103A - (eBay item 110203865002 end time Dec-13-07 18:31:48 PST)

I have no idea, do a google search for it, and maybe there are some reviews of it somewhere

Tamron Adaptall-2 80-210mm F/3.8-4 Model 103A

Seems to be a really good lens for its time.

Manual Focus Forum / Tamron 80-210 103A

Tamron 80-210mm f/3.8-4 103A macro 1:1.14

Some photos with that lens.

I highly recommend the Sigma 70-300mm lens! I have used about 6 different copies of it now and have owned 2 all of which were excellent for the money! I had not had so much luck with the Tamron, actually just the opposite, the Tamron had way too much CA/PF for my taste! My last copy of the Sigma 70-300mm Macro was a non-DG and non-APO and was sharp from 70-300mm.

As for the 28-70mm Sigma, I didn't care for that lens personally, the new version is a bit better and typically only runs $69 or so brand new. The Sigma 28-80mm f/3.5-(forget off hand) Asph Macro lens is actually a nice sleeper lens that can be had new for like $60 as well, while slower, the optics are much much better! Used one on my Canon all the time, nice light lens and with extension tubes it did excellent 1:1 macros for the $$$, wasn't bad without them either. The Tamron 28-80mm is junk IMHO, again, soft and far too much CA/PF.

Honestly, if you do not need AF, you can get much better MF glass for the same price or even alot less!
