I'd like to get a little more range with my Sigma 50-150. Has anyone here tried a teleconverter with this lens? Any recommendations or better yet, sample shots?

I have not used a teleconverter with that particular lens but I did use a teleconverter with my 50-135 with decent results. Being that the 50-150 is a HSM lens, I would suspect that focusing would not be as crisp as without the converter. I will see if I can find some of the pics to upload.

Here is a pic I took with the TC on that lens. Shutter speed was too slow but you can get the Idea of its potential. I only used it on this one morning and it was pretty dreary. After this I bought a Bigma and quit using this lens with a converter. In fact I rarely used the lens at all so I sold it and got the 60-250. It is much more usable for me. I use it with the AFA 1.7x with good results. It gives me 425mm without weighing 5 lbs.

Thanks. After Googling the same question it seems most people find things go south pretty quick with the TC in front of the 50-150. I think I'm better off supplementing the 50-150 with a Bigma then putting a TC in front.

I have a couple of combinations to get to 500mm. Consider this. FA300mm with teleconverter. It will work with the non PZ teleconverters while maintaining autofocus and will be much lighter than the Bigma. I use the DA*300 with the AFA 1.7x for 510mm and get very nice results. Results are good enough that I am considering selling the Bigma.
