I've never heard that. Garage|yard|driveway|street sales, flea markets, swap meets, even stairway sales in San Francisco, but not car-trunk sales. Maybe that's an Eastern thang. Only thing I remember buying from a car (and not a table setup next to a car) was on the front hood, not the boot|trunk.
