dropped my K-5 and DA*55 today...

accidentally dropped my camera onto tile, the camera and lens survived, the CPL tab in the hood was slightly damaged (taped back on), and the OME53 is no longer usable. thank god the build quality is so high on the important parts, there isnt a scratch to be seen on the lens, body and grip.
however, the thing that surprised me the most was that my 55mm no longer needs AF adjust. It went from needing +7 down to +0. anyone ever had this happen to them?

That's actually a pretty funny coincidence- but I guess it's a good one!

I once fell with K10d and da12-24 while hiking, and even though the impact was quite severe, it barely left a mark on the bottom of the camera and didn't damage the internals at all! The worst part was that the lens got covered in dust, some of which remains stuck near the front element to this day.

Lucky you. I'm gonna think about it if I want to drop my K-5 Silver and DA*55 because the +10 AF correction annoys me a lot!

Well maybe not

You're on your own with this one. I have no intention of testing it. Mine is at +5 for the DA*55 and I don't give it a second thought.

i dropped my k5 and got a free cleaning from pentax!
seems like there is a way around pentax's QC issues... or that the gear is designed to be used.

Wow, what a story. You are very fortunate! I guess it just goes to show how tough the K-5 really is...

I know how it feels; K5 + FA31Ltd took a nose dive in April Around 100$ for a new lens hood. The mirror has a small chipped area but I can live with that.

sterretje, I cringe to see the FA 31mm with such a mangle. But aren't we thankful for the hood?
