Agreed - that image taken from farther away and enlarged is about as sharp as could possibly be expected. Might as well accuse the best microphone in the world of being lousy because it can't pick up the sound of conversation 10 miles away.

Interesting. Just attributed it to my cheap lenses.

A simple test: take a look at the second shot *before* you enlarged the heck out of it, and see how big that face appears. Compare that to the first shot to find something about the same size. I'm guessing the entire face in the second shot is actually about the size of one eye in the first shot. So now try enlarging one eye in the first shot to the same size and see how that looks.

Actually, you did quite well with a K200D and the lenses you already have. I do have a question about your 18-55 kit lens. Which version do you have? the mark II (to me) is slightly sharper than the original.

I'm using the k20d. And yes, my lens is the mark II.
