Pentax lens repair.

Hello i wanted to know if anyone knew where i could get my camera lens repaired ? Its a Pentax smc da* 16-50mm f/2.8 what happen was, the camera fell off my desk, and it could not zoom out wide open to 16mm. It just gets stuck at 24mm or sometime 30mm, it will zoom it to 50mm but that's it. I heared something lose inside the camera, so i unscrewed the top of the lens, and looked inside, to see if anything was lose, i am not too sure about this so i left the lens partially dissembled, as its difficult now to put everything back and close up the lens. What do you guys think? How much would it cost estimating, to fix this problem , if anyone has had any prior experience with dropping their lens, and having the zoom ring stuck? Thank you.

Ouch! I dropped my 16-45 recently and it had issues similar, but the lens was clearly crooked and so I yanked it straight and all was well... soft plastic inside? The 16-50 is possibly not as cheesy inside, however, is it showing signs of being off true from you observation? Before you attempt to yank it straight... is it still under warranty?

Everyone uses him on the forums, you'll see him mentioned all over the place. Never seen mention of anyone unhappy.

It was loose, when i opened it up, due to the SDM motor , this lens seems very complicated as compared to 16-45mm (owned one), the 16-50mm seems more complicated due to the mechanics and electronics of it, i thought it was something simple, perhaps it is, i am not too familiar working with lenses, so i dont want to further touch it and create larger mess.

In my dealings with Eric he will sometimes give a rough ballpark estimate, but he will need to see the lens to give you an exact one. He then sends an email estimate most times on the day that he gets the lens, at least that's been my experience. I have sent him several lenses and his rates are very fair and he has always done top quality work.

Oh okay, yeah he gave me an estimate of 150-200$ Do you mind telling me the procedure of sending. Do you just mail in the lens to him, and then he examines it, and then sends you the price, and if you accept it, you pay right away or after the repair, and then he sends it back?

Very!!! He is almost a legend here on the Forums.

Eric has exchanged mounts on two of my Contax Carl Zeiss lenses (each 25 to 30 years old). Excellent job and a fair price.

Are we thinking that Eric is better than Pentax repair? I have a Pentax FA 28-70 f4 that needs tweaking.
