You have a FA31 would would be a good pano option having low distortion and a normal focal length.

I have the DA21, DA15 & DA12-24, all have their uses. Lately I've been using the DA21 a lot more since it came back from Pentax hospital, it's a fantastic people lens and general utility lens. I took 3 or 4 thousand pics with my DA12-24 on a trip last month and was so relieved to put it away when I got home, but it gave me good sharp images albiet with CA at times. It's not enjoyable to use compared to the 15 or 21 that's for sure, but as a wide travel lens it can't be beat. The 15 is the most fun to use, but often a bit wide for people.

For distortionless source shots for stitched-together panos, I have a suggestion: Look for a decent MF 28mm lens. Pentax, Vivitar, Sears, Tamron, Chinon, Soligor, all have good affordable 28's. Any will likely do better than the wide end of your zoom. Zooms are usually weakest at their extremes, where they also tend to be used the most. Funny about that...
I have a Pentax FA31mm f/1.8 Limited. I might try using that for panoramic shots I want to join. My best bet is to find a 15mm and try a few shots and see that I think before selling one to buy another.

The 31Ltd should be an ideal pano-stitch lens. Depending on the stitching warez used and the scene to be imaged, I may shoot a horizontal series in portrait mode, a vertical series in landscape mode, or a matrix in both modes for more detailed overlays. (Autostitch allows that.) I think you'll find that a 15mm will be useful in small spaces for constrained 'scapes, so its utility depends on the kinds of proportions you want in your shots.

As far as primes go, the true Pentax auto focus options are the DA 14, DA 15 Ltd and DA 21 Ltd. Out of production Pentax options are the FA 20mm f2.8.

Im looking at getting PTGui and use a fanotec Ninja Nodel Panohead.Ill give the 31 a go and see what it produces.I still have hundreds to join from a recent USA trip using the 10-20mm and FA*28-70 @ 28mm.
