Anyone have a spare $2500 lying around?

I offer this link as a public service announcement, because it costs about twice my monthly grad student stipend and there is no way I can think about something like this until I -- GULP! -- get a REAL job...

Pentax A* 300mm f/2.8 ED IF Lens 300 f2.8 SMC A Star - (eBay item 260192849113 end time Dec-18-07 09:45:24 PST)

I'd love to have that PENTAX FA Star 85mm f/1.4, and it looks like I WILL have the money on the weekend
However I think that I'll pass on it this time. I can use the cash more somewhere else.

When I walked around the shops in Den Den Town in Osaka. There were a couple of Fa 85 mm f1.4 that cost about 1100 US dollars or so in near new condition.

This is obviously higher than the Japan market values

Where does Matsuiyastore get all those wonderful toys....

Me, I'll have to wait until the dollar's strength comes back. ... so I can feel there's some "value" to what I'm getting from overseas (to me) (and so I'm not paying about 25% more for the same barrel of oil simply because the dollar's so week, and oil price goes up just to compensate because it's price in dollars...:ugh: living in a glass house during winter really really has its disadvantages.)

And turn on the drool factor... I've been wanting the 80-200 for years now, and ever since I saw roentarre's pictures with the A* 300 I've been wanting that too.

So many lenses, so little time (and money)

FYI - there is no teleconverter being offered with that 300 f2.8 - that's another $500 to $700
