F stop confusion!

Hi all

I know that the steps above 2.8 to be a full F stop are
2.8>3.5>4>4.5>5.6>8>11>16>24>32... correct me if I am wrong on any...
but what numbers are considered a full F stop below 2.8?

thanks

randy

Check out F-number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Full stops would be:
1 > 1.4 > 2 > 2.8 > 4 > 5.6 > 8 > 11 > 16 ...

You need to remember two numbers to recreate the sequence of f-stops: 1 and 1.4. Then you alternate their multiples of 2 like so :

1, 1.4, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22

The spacing between the resulting sequence are 1 stop apart (i.e. each doubling of a number is 2 stops).

HTH,
Richard.

In other words each full stop is different from the other by the square root of 2 (1.4142) approx.
