Sigma 17-70, then save for an older Sigma 70-200 APO f2.8, and then a Sigma 30mm f1.4. At least, that's what I'm doing.

A Raynox DCR 150 for your 200 zoom.

This would give you almost the entire magnification range you can hand hold. Replace the 200 with a 300 and you'll cover the hand-holdable range.

If this doesn't cost enough get focusing rails etc...

Thanks for all the advice so far.
I quiet fancy a 'walk around lens' as i feel i'd use this a lot..
Potential shortlist;
Pentax17-70(q expensive and not v good ratings on here)
Pentax 16-45(cheaper/better rated/shorter range)
Tamron 17-50(how does this compare to the Pentax 16-45)
Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 macro(good range/good rating/macro option)
Tamron 28-75(at longer end of range)

I feel i may have a bit more deliberation top come before narrowing my search

If 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM - Standard Zoom Lenses - SigmaPhoto.com is the Sigma that you're refering to, it not a real macro (just a little more magnification than the pentax kit lens).
