A good price for you is hard to achieve. Unfortunately the dollar +Oz mark-up have not been in your favour. All the same good luck for sale.
I would love it but not financually viable at present .

The latest price update

I have an itch to compare the DA*60-250 and the SIgma 100-300. But I better pass on this one. I should buy that Canadian glass+TC for $900 I guess.
I just snitched the Sigma 100-300/4 form ebay (original owner, mint conditions, UV filter installed from very beginning) for $925 (Buy it Now price). So there is a latest price check

Thanks everyone for your input. Think I'll keep the Sigma for the time being.

Hey you big jerk! I had a saved search setup that was supposed to notify me when one of these was listed, but I never got an email about that one. Looking at the auction, it looks like you bought it a couple hours after it was listed. And since I only get the email from eBay once a day, I imagine the lens came and went before the email went out.

I guess I'll just have to start checking eBay hourly!

It's just as well. At least this way, I don't have to try to explain to the wife why I couldn't afford to get her a decent Christmas gift this year. So is this lens going to replace your Pentax 60-250mm?

I don't know yet. The 100-300 is bigger due to internal focus, but IQ wise it is superior, I believe. The DA* 60-250 is smaller when folded; it's good for travel. At the same time when it's extended to 250mm and the hood is attached, the size is quite impressive. I like to walk the street with DA*60-250. The question is how my FA*300/4.5 will stand against the Sigma?

How on earth did you find one?! I've been searching high and low for weeks now and apparently missed that one! Great catch.

Just got a hint from a friend. Otherwise I would miss it too. BTW: I've been searching for Sigma 400/5.6 TeleMacro for years... I hope I'll build a better long tele solution around 100-300/4.

If you find your needs aren't met with the 100-300 and want to sell it, I know a good humidity controlled home with a pelican case ready for it!

We don't need humidity control here in SoCal :-). I have no doubts about 100-300/4. The question what bothers me no is how my DA*60-250/4 and FA*300/4.5 will stand against the Sigma? And I need the best of the best 1.4x TC for it. Do you have any experience with 1.4x APO EX DG? It's not very popular due to protruding optics. It's hard to find a hands on info about it for Pentax.

I don't have experience with that TC, I haven't read up on it, but figured it would be a good match since it has the same designations as the lens. That was purely shooting from the hip, I haven't done any comparisons in that field yet for the lens.

The Sigma 1.4xAPO is a nice piece of kit, but as you say, it will only work on certain lenses. It works brilliantly with my FA*200/2.8. I have a number of converters, old Tamron 2x, its OK, but you can tell the drop in IQ, Kenko 1.5xPz, works a treat with my 16-50 and 50-135 SDM lenses, SDM works great with them. I use both of them on my Sigma 400/5.6, it didn't realy like either. I only use the 1.4x Sigma on my 200 and 300 lenses. The Pentax 1.7xAFA works on everything. Saw one listed in China the other day at nearly $600.00......(thats Nukking Futs.)

What exactly Sigma 1.4 TC are you talking about: APO EX or APO EX DG?
I do have 1.7x AFA too. I bought it about a year ago brand new from Japan for about $460. Now the same Japanese site lists it for $720. Personally for AF lenses I prefer regular AF TCs, not AFA. Strangely my older Sigma 1.4x (non EX) doesn't autofocus with my FA*300/4.5.
