Suggestions for a good value 24mm prime?

Finding my 35mm f/2 to be a bit tight when shooting video on my GH1.

Looking for a decent 24mm f/2.8 for around 100€.
Missed out on a couple of Sigma Super Wide IIs, which seems to be a good option.

The longer the focus throw the better.

Any other suggestions?

+1 to this one, although it might be touch more than 100EUR. I'd say around 120. But it's an excellent lens.

This is probably over your budget but I thoroughly enjoy my Sigma EX DG 24mm F/1.8. Sharp corner to corner, some flare but controllable with a decent hood. Very good close focus which Sigma calls "Macro" but really isn't, but that's marketing for you. It has two downsides: it is big and heavy and there is a slight "clunk" in the body/barrel of the lens that doesn't affect IQ or operation of the lens but is a bit disconcerting. Other people have mentioned this "clunk" as well so I guess it's normal.

Love this lens, but the focussing throw isn't great IMHO...

sig28 mini-wide is not bad a lens at all!
At 2.8, sharpness [catches up to] sig301.4 @ 2.8, and the macro capabilities. It gets close to about 4.5 inches.
tThe price? $35 USD.

Another vote for the K 24/2.8.

Great old lens if you don't mind no AE or AF.

I bought the 24/2.8 K and found it to be so similar to the 28mm in focal length I didnt think it was worth while, and kept the 28/2.8 instead. I also use a 35/2.8 and find it significantly different to the 28. Yet in theory, the step from 35->28 is 0.8, and the step from 28->24 is 0.85. Not very different. My guess is that the K 24/2.8 is not really a 24, either that or the 28 is a tad wider. What about something a little wider, like the Tamron SP 17? On digital, its not so wide.

and in theory, step from 35 -> 24 would be both of them combied. more than twice from stopping at 28mm.

While I agree on the price, and the fact that it can be useful to have the close focus feature, the lateral CA of the KA version of the lens is really bad

see the attached thread on CA removal processing, The Sigma MIni Wide II was the sample

WHat I can't say is whether the 24 is better or not.

For me, a nice 24 is the Vivitar/Kiron 24F2.0

Vivitar-Kiron 24/2 in PKM mount, fast and sharp and cuddly. Probably a bit over US$100.

If you're on a budget and mainly want to shoot 'scapes, look for a Lentar-Tokina 25/3.5 in M42 mount, probably under US$50.

Or Ensinor 24/2.8
I have this one and the K24/2.8. Both are among my sharpest, also wide open. But i like the Ensinor better due to close focus ability. Focus throw is huge, and very easy to use, very good flare resistance.
