I had been leaning towards a constant aperture, and after talking with a few friends, went for the 18-50 F2.8 EX DC. I purchased a new, non-macro version found on Amazon for $270 from Cameta Camera. After receiving the lens yesterday and taking a few shots… Wow! What an improvement over the kit lens. I read some reviews of this lens complaining of a yellow cast to the images, but my copy seems to be perfect.

Here is the link if anyone else is looking for this lens: Used and New: Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 EX DC Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
