Been there, done that. My kids are out of the house now. I can tell you, I've sold good lenses over the years which I wish I didn't. So, hang on in there if possible. You going to need that 70-200mm. I'm in a fix myself. Want to sell off stuff to fund some new super wide-angles. But, how do you sell your beloved SMC 1000mm F8 which you have been treasuring for over 30 years!!!
By the way, I'm new to the forum, just couldn't help jumping in as I surely have serious LBA writtrn all over me.

Welcome aboard! And we can never have too many lenses, now can we? As long as there's another pigeonhole in which to store them. [/me wonders where some have gone]

my baby experience would suggest a zoom and flash are useful, and that you will want decent depth of field, so f5.6/f8 on the kit zoom will suffice. You'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the kit zoom and a M50/1.7 at f8.

I would also suggest having a macro lens is handy, for photos of their little hands and feet...its amazing how quickly they get bigger, and when the opportunity is gone, its gone for good. I seem to remember the kit zoom was quite respectable close up (ratio around 1:3).

Are you really going to want to take photos of the whole room? If so, then 15mm is probably necessary, but in my opinion, if you go ultrawide, you have to be really careful about converging verticals indoors, and the photos are seldom of any interest: vast spaces of walls and floor and ceiling...not very artistic!
