More modern DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM is excellent.

Yes the VL58mm is a FF.

"it is a full format lens and as such not limited to the APS-C scope" (Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL II - Review / Test Report)

In terms of most engaging "streoscopic 3D effect", the Super Takumar early 8-element version is the one to get. You'll need a lens hood to go with it for best results.

The best 50/1.4, I think is Leica Summuilux-R 50mm E60. Among all SLR lenses, I suspect, though obviously I haven't tried them all. It can be adapted to Pentax, it's just that the bugger will cost 2-3K...

No PP, this is how the images come out...

I have the Summicron 50mm, and it's the best 50mm lens I have.

I may have to sell all my lenses to enter this track of LBA ;-)

Very nice fs999. I like the #2, best, then #3 for buttery bokeh ;-)

In Manual focus, F/ 1,4 options to me:

The n° 1, MC Rokkor PG 50 mm. Follow by Summilux R E 60, Planar, S-M-C, S. T (not the 8 elements, please), Fd SSC, Nikon AIS.

But I repeat, the rokkor is magical to me.

Of course, the DA55 is the best.
But you can see the difference to the old M/A/FA 50s under test conditions only.
I have a little test here:
Pentax DA55 and FA50 - a comparison
