Jupiter-6 on K-7?

Hi!
I got serious LBA over a Jupiter-6 180mm 2.8 M42, but will it fit my K-7? I'm not wondering about the mount, I'm wondering about the actual physical size.
I would like a quick answer as the auction ends soon as this really makes me wonder: Canon EOS 350D with Jupiter-6 2.8/180mm

Well, it seems to vary quite a bit. The ones on Ebay seem to have starting prices at about 150-200€ but the one here in Sweden is supposed to be near mint and is at 50€ with just a couple of hours left.

Nice, thanks. Hope you win it.

It'd certainly be a conversation starter out in the field.

If only Pentax would have taken a flatter approach when designing the area around the mount to be more practical and make these kind of crazy lenses fit for sure, at least K-7 looks good.

In case it doesn't fit, will the M42 adapter fit a TC or tube with k-mount? Dunno why it wouldn't but you never know.
There are a couple of TC on the auction site. Should I go with a K-mount or a M42 one? Vivitar or APC?

Yes, I've had no issues at all using my m42 lenses on my K mount tubes using an adapter. Of course it will close focus, if not get into macro territory, and you'll lose infinity (and then some).

And with TC I lose some IQ and and light.

that is a monster. I could see it being a tight fit on k7/k5 due to spacing to the flash (and grip for that matter) OTOH It would have mo issues on a K10/20 i think
Certainly a tempting lens at the price you've seen it at (not so sure about the normal prices though, Jupiters are notorious for needing to be disassembled and cleaned re-greased because they are tough to focus.

Find the thinnest tube you can, if it won't mount because of the shape of the pentaprism. I think I have one that's 10 or 12mm, not too bad, doesn't increase magnification too much on its own, so logically it should be good for some distance, especially on the focal length you'll be using. Longer focal lengths require more extension, so while you won't have infinity, you won't lose all that much range.

12mm extension should give you 1.06:1 magnification, I think, so significantly less than your average TC, which are usually at least 25mm. Of course you can deglass a TC, you still lose a lil light, but it won't affect IQ, since you're turning it into a tube.

Edit: fixed ratio, brain isn't working today. Someone check my math please.

Sadly I didn't get it despite going for only 120€ due to that I had to quickly leave home and got back two minutes too late.

Hey, it also would been great fur clubbing the fish you get and also for flattening (?) the Pizza dough that you put the sardines on.
So much fun, all in a lens!
