K 500mm f4.5

Does this lens need the internal 52mm filter to remain optically correct? I have heard the tamron adaptall 2 300mm & 400mm lenses need the 43mm rear filter to perform correctly and I am wondering if the same is the case with the K 500mm?

This lens has a rear filter mount for regular colour and b&w filters. It's not like some of the A series telephotos that require the dedicated Pentax filter in the optical path.

The lens can be used with no filter mounted.
