I think lenses have their own flavor. Kind of like a good whiskey or rum, each lens has its flavor you will either find useful or not, find yourself in love with or hating.
I personally couldn't compare these two lenses. First of all, the 70-200 is more like a 100-300mm lens, so you're not comparing the same focal range. Beyond that, the 50-135's bokeh is decidedly different (doesn't necessarily mean better or worse) than the Sigma's. And then there is the weight, length, and thickness differences. I personally love Sigma's 70-200 but sincerely wish Pentax would create a DA*100-300 2.8.
Otherwise, not much out there to compare the 50-135 to if you're looking for a new lens. Only two that come close are either a Sigma 24-70 EX or Tamron's SP 28-75 - and both of these fall slightly short.
