No experience myself in this field but a good friend just got a tamron 10-24 for caving. He's pretty serious into caving and takes his canon dslr. Lighting is not an issue. He has a Scurion 1500 lumen caving headlamp plus a couple of other lights. Having a very wide lens seemed to be more important.
