PENTAX DA 10-17mm Fisheye Lens

Hi All,

I was considering a wide angle lens with the ability to have fisheye field of view.
Does anyone have the pentax PENTAX DA 10-17mm lens, and if so, could you please tell me if it will allow a standard wide field view along with the fisheye cropped look?

Also, what is a decent price to pay for this lens? I seen it for about 380.00 but wondering if that may be too expensive.

Thanks
David

standard wide field view... u mean non fisheye. its less fisheye at 17 than 10, the fisheye effect will be more apparent depending on the subject and how your frame the shot. I have seen fisheye shots at 10m that I was very surprised when I heard they were actually fisheye shots because they looked rectiinear.

In any case you can correct the fisheye distrortion using software, I beleive ptlens was the program?

btw the pentax 12-24 covers 99 degrees at 12mm, the 10-17 covers 100 degrees at 17mm so its a tiny bit wider at 17 than the 12-24 at 12.

pps when you use ptlens to correct the distortions you will have to crop out a bit of the image, it will still be very wide thoguh

Here are some samples of my shots with this lens. I like it a lot, and it is sharp.

I just got the lens. Here are a few test shots with it. I used no flash, a tripod with pistol grip head, a bowl of wooden fruit, and the camera set to 10mm with the lens about a few inches away from the subject. I know I will get a lot of fun from this lens. I can't wait to try it outside.

Here's a comparison of the 10-17 vs 12-24 over the same range.
