LBA kicked in - FA43 ltd or Voigtlander ultron 40mm

so LBA kicked in and I am thinking to buy one of these:

FA43 ltd f1.9
Voigtlander ultron 40mm f2

I googled and checked a lot of posts regarding on the lenses.
I am not considering alternative because I want a more "collectable lens", so no DA/M40mm, no FA31(Out of budget).

What will be your choice on DSLR?
and film camera? (I use it on K1000 only, so AF is not an advance)

For the film camera AF doesn't metter, but for your DSLR wouldn't AF be handy?

I use my DA*16-50 / FA35 as my walk around lens.

If I am bringing the MF lens, I am not going to shoot it in a rush so MF is fine.
let's put the AF to compromise the price difference.

On my Canon 5D MKII the Ultron 40 SL II was my favourite lens hands down. I wis I could trade it for a Pentax version.

Get both. Hay, it's only money!

But really: Get both, but only from sellers with explicit no-questions return+refund policies. Shoot the sh!t out of them. See which you like best. You're not married to a lens purchase; divorce is easy. Good luck!

that is the worst thing to do but there's what I wish to do .
I am buying both of them used so refund is not a solution here.

I have none of these lenses but.... I have two Voigtlander lenses and they are simply fabulous.

If you do not mind for MF., I would say go for the Voigtlander. Be different ! The review of both lenses at Welcome to Photozone! is excellent. Twio superb lenses, but dare to be different.

Food for thoughts...

I like the VL very much. I traded it for the FA35 and had never regret. I love metal, I love MF, I hate plastic.
On top of that 35mm seemed always to wide or to tight for me. I prefer the 28mm and 40mm combo.
The main difference might be the bokeh. Most people love the boke of the FA43. I do too. But I like the bokeh of the VL also.
It's a matter of taste I guess.
About the collectability: the VL is rarer and built extremely well. It will hold its value better I suppose.
From what I have seen: FA43 for pictures of people and animals (pop-up-quallity) , VL for landscapes and close ups.

If I had the VL, I could imagine wanting the AF of the 43. Having the 43, I do not want the VL. And with a FA 43, I see no need for a 35mm f/2 lens; perhaps you could sell yours to help with the purchase. Either way you will probably do fine.

I had the Ultron for a while. Sent it back. I kept the 43.
Both are nice lenses, I liked the 43 more.

If it's real LBA you will buy both to 'evaluate' which one you like both. Of course that decision can be put of indefinately once you have both in your hot little hands....

they both have annoying lens hoods, personally I would go with the pentax. The Voigtlander Ultron 40mm f/2 has a tendency to produce nasty bokeh. The difference in lens speed is trivial, there isn't much difference in build quality between the two, though the Pentax FA has autofocus and is quite passable as a manual focus lens. Both can cover full frame. the Pentax FA43 limited has a major advantage when it comes to flare tolerance, I own a FA43mm f/1.9 Special which is in Leica thread mount - I use it on my Leica M9 and the FA43 holds a distinct edge over the Leica-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH* and the voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 in terms of flare performance. The voigtlander is arguably the worst performer of the three when it comes to flare, the Leica lens fits in somewhere in the middle. The ultron 40mm f/2 SLR lens is based on a similar optical design to the M Nokton 40mm f/1.4.

*widely considered to be the Ne Plus Ultra of 50mm lenses.

I cannot buy both of them at this point because not enough funds but eventually it might happen.
Also, I cannot fit more lenses in my dry cabinet.
Even my K10D need to sit outside my dry cabinet now.
It will probably fit 1 more pancake but not anymore.
