I have an FA 50mm 1.4, and I agree it is not that useful for indoor party shots. Have you considered a Pentax DA21/3.2? $350 AR from BuyDig is pretty tempting! 21=31.5mm uncropped, only a bit wider than the 35mm lenses that were popular on film cameras.

Joele, can you comment on the DA21/3.2? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the da21.

OK..

As you know it is very handy to carry around, small and lightweight. Optically, as long as you don't need a 2.8 or brighter lens, it is extremely good. No complaints from me when used wide open.. The only fault I can find is it has a bit too much barrel distortion for architectual type photography (though you can work this out with various programs) and it really wasn't designed for that.

Some people have focus issues on the k10d, mine I don't notice, maybe it has a very slight FF when I tested it, but not enough that it has caused me any problems in actual photos..

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input. From the responses, it looks like everyone is in favor of the sigma 24mm. I'll probably end up pulling the trigger within the next week.

For those that have it, how does it do as a outdoors/walk around lens? Thanks again.
Hi Henzo,
Yes, I believe it has a place as a walk around lens, but remember it is a prime (that is its a fixed focal length) so you need to put some thought into what you may be shooting.
Here are some shots taken with it that illustrate its versatility....which is not to say that other lens' can't do the same thing, but this is what the 24mm does.
Cheers
Grant
PS: oops...first 2 are iso 200 and the cave shots iso 800
