Great lens for small price: 35-70mm

I did a review on the Tokina AF 35-70mm f3.5-4.6 Macro a while back (link here: Tokina AF 35-70mm f3.5-4.6 Macro Lens Reviews - Tokina Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database) and one just popped up on eBay with the $25 optional hood! Pentax lens Tokina 35-70mm f/3.5-4.6 AF Zoom Lens | eBay

If it didn't have a hood it wouldn't be that great a deal... you can get the Pentax 35-70 for about the same...

Also, it's not mine, I have no vested interest in this auction

That Tokina lens looks very similar to the Pentax F 23-70. Is it the same lens?

Never heard of a 23-70mm lens, and... well, since the focal range is completely different, i'll go with "no".

The Pentax SMC-F 35-70 and the Tokina 35-70 look nothing alike. See:

However, the earlier versions of the Tokina autofocus 28-70 f2.8-4.5 and 28-70 f3.5-4.5 were available as "Magnicon" branded lenses . There's one on eBay right now.

The F35-70 was apparently the smallest zoom Pentax ever made, and close to the smallest ever for 35mm cameras. (That's size, not weight; plastic zooms like my lousy A35-80 can be lighter.) Tokina made and makes good lenses but they're not known for compactness.
