Agreed, the current version is really lacking compare to the competitors...

Or a DA* 24-70mm f2.8 would be awesome too.

DA* or WR 10-20/2.8 ; pentax's offering on ultra wide zoom is seriously embarrassing...aside from 12-24 (which have become extinct) and 10-17 they don't have any other offering aside from third party offering....if pentax can build this lens forget dreaming for tokina 11-16, other WA users would be tempted to switch as well.

WR DC 28-75 2.8 Tamron 28-75 is such a gem with bad housing, pentax should join up with tamron like they did with 18-250 and make WR DC body for 28-75

DFA150 f2.8 macro to please macro shooters

oh and of course update the damn sdm

Pentax lens lineup would be so much more robust with these addons....oh well one can dream :P

A 24 to 60mm f2.4 zoom, WR.
Won't happen, obviously -- it would seem like a strangely narrow zoom range to most people, but I think it would be fantastic. Ok, f2.8 (are there any 2.4 zooms?) would be acceptable, to save weight.

The only company to have faster than f2.8 zooms is Oly for their original 4/3 system there were 2 f2 zooms something like 12-35 and 35-100 or there abouts. Other than that I only know of Tokina 28-70/2.6-2.8...

Pentax wish lens(es) (D)FA*24/2 would be nice but then I have the FA* so I don't think I'd buy it. (D)FA*26-28 around f 2 would be nice too...

What I really want? SMC labeled version of Tokina 11-16/2.8 or something like that (ultrwide and fast) or even 14-24/2.8. Both in DA* please!

Interesting idea, although I don't think it really fits with the current lineups. The pancakes are all in the Limited series, which aren't WR. Not sure how much extra bulk is required to make a lens WR, but that might rule out a pancake design. It is odd there's no 28 in the DA lineup, though -- a true normal lens. A DA* 28 would be a nice addition.
There is no 28, because there is a 31 mm FA. FA and DA lines do not overlap where possible 40/43 come very close as well as 70/77, but here the max. aperture defines the difference.
The FA line needs an addition below the 31 if used on APS-C cameras. 2/24 lens would be great. And yes such a lens needs SDM focus engine and WR. APS-C coverage would be OK, full frame FA would be better ...

Errr, FA 50/1.4 vs. DA* 55/1.4, FA 35/2 vs. the two DA 35 lenses ... Sure there are differences, but doesn't seem like any particular effort to avoid overlap, especially when considering the few FAs still in production.

A reasonably-priced normal lens would be a nice offering -- the 31 limited is obviously a great lens, but expensive. I guess we're supposed to use zooms for a normal perspective.

Yes, that works, in the same way a 50 or 55mm lens works as normal on FF. Long normal, if you will. I just think if Pentax is truly committed to APS-C, it makes sense to offer a true normal prime, i.e. 28mm, instead of simply recycling an old optical formula from the FF days. 35mm the standard moderate wide FL on FF, but is a little odd on APS-C IMO.

After using a 55mm Takumar
as the standard lens on my Spotmatic
for many years back in the previous millennium,
I've always been comfortable
with that angle of view (45 degrees diagonal),
now offered by 35mm on APS-C.

It works well with a moderate wide-angle
(60 degrees diagonal)
given by 35mm on 135 ("full frame")
or 24mm on APS-C.
So I'd really like to see the DA*24/2 WR
that is currently the top lens in Ron Hendrik's poll:

Well you can find some info about the lenssurvey that runs on this forum: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/161644-salon-de-la-photo.html and you van see that the 24mm is very popular, but the 28mm Ltd just has some votes.

How about...

SMC Pentax-DA* 24mm f2 AL IF
SMC Pentax-DA* 28-70mm f2.8 AL
SMC Pentax-DA* 85mm f1.4 IF
SMC Pentax-DA* 200mm f4 ED IF macro
SMC Pentax-DA* 250-600 f5.6 ED IF
SMC Pentax-DA* 300mm f2.8 ED IF
SMC Pentax-DA* 400mm f2.8 ED IF
SMC Pentax-DA* 600mm f4 ED IF

Can't be that difficult to re-manufacture, they have all the lens formulas etc in house already!

A DA* based off of the FA 135/2.8 would be choice as well... or even if they could just start manufacturing them again, that would be pretty sweet.

No, it would be better to be based of the A*135mm f/1.8
