Slightly OT about lens swap or sale of Viv Ser.1

I just came upon a very new Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f2.8-4.0 macro focusing zoom (I can't find a mark on it, the owner took such good care of it), and since they are so few and far between I bought it. And for technophiles, its the 58mm filter size starting in serial number 0986...

Only thing is - its for Nikon (N/AI-S)!

My thinking was, what the heck, maybe I can find someone shooting Nikon with the PK or PK-A version to swap. If not, I can just sell it outright, and use the proceeds for another lens.

What do think I can expect to sell it for price-wise if I cannot find a swap?

thanks

Nic

I haven't a clue what Nikon shooters would pay for one of these but I can tell you that I sold my version in a Pentax mount for $212.00 US on Ebay back in the spring.

Beautiful lens and I only sold mine as I've tried to go to all AF when ever possible. Plus I had the chance to get a Bigma so the funds were needed. I'd be surprised if you'de get many that want to trade. But I heard that some Nikon AI mounts will fit on a Pentax (this was for a 24mm I was looking into) I'm reluctant to suggest you try it but maybe others would know if this was actually the case.

So if it's mint I'd guess it would go around $150.00?? But Nikon glass doesn't have the same demands on it as Pentax does.

Ranging from 50 to 110 $ on ebay.

Thank you for your replies.

BTW, you made out pretty well getting $212 for the lens.

Are the PKA versions much of a rarity?

With this particular lens you'd have better luck winning the Lotto than prying one from a users hands. They are rare and getting even more so. Today it might fetch even more. Mostly because its fast with excellent IQ.
