I hear that @pento57mm really has this lens. Maybe he'll post a picture of it.

If you can get him to post a review and declare his price that will bring the average price down to $1,588. Then wait till the next time one comes up for sale and that price gets quoted.

Maybe he was afraid one of us would seek him out and kill him with our bare hands.

Not at all, My time is very valuable and I only log on the forum every once in a while. Quite honestly I never really went back to look at this thread and did not think it was that big of a deal to do so.

A couple of members have sent PM's and have an understanding of what has transpired with this lens. It's currently being personally used photographing at a local nature reserve. We have had the rare opportunity of some new nesting pairs of American Eagles which have not been around our area for more than a hundred years.

We also rent this lens out on occasion to a couple of photographers who are employed by our local news agency. They found out about the lens by reading the EXIF on some of the images of the eagles that were sent in to the paper and they contacted me about it for possible purchase.

As for posting images I am a bit insulted by the demeanor of some that commented in this thread, Quite frankly when I find the time and I make a cash donation to the forum for album space. Possibly I may post some. For now I am going to sit down in front of the tele' and watch our Tigers battle the Yankees with a cold Bud in one hand and a bowl of popcorn in the other. Sunday is a rare day off on my end.

Its rare here that members here try to intentionally insult each other so if it happened, we apologize. You must, however, take into consideration that this is a relatively rare lens and coveted by many. Since you stumbled upon it at one of the best prices ever, we all wished we were in your shoes!!! Congratulations on a great find and enjoy the game.

History lesson here

Estate sale, valuable lens, insanely cheap price, "golly, what have I got???", poster then has trouble or doesn't have time to post an image of their "find" Even the writing style is similar, the getting offended as people question the story, and yet there is still no evidence.

I think it's really that the masses want something to droool over. Especially considering that someone gave you a $5000-$8000 gift

Insulted or not, the internets still demand photographic evidence
