Which one will be the better choice for a tele zoom, SMC PENTAX DA 50-200MM F4-5.6 ED WR or SMC PENTAX DA 55-300MM F4-5.8 ED.

This will be used only by a casual user needing the tele reach, not for action or wildlife.

You'll be happier with the latter, unless you need the WR.

I have both, and I agree with Adam. The 50-200 is a bit smaller and lighter, and has got WR (which is why I have it). The 55-300 gives you more reach (obviously...) and better IQ. And at 200mm it is both sharper and faster than the 50-200.

So, in short, I use the 50-200 only when I really need WR - which isn't very often.

the 55-300 is significantly better than the 50-200 IQ-wise.
