Well, I took pictures of the same things, including lens charts, but sure, it's my opinion.

I would also be interested in the Sigma 100-300mm f/2.8, but I would likely only be able to afford it second-hand.

B&H lists the Sigma 120-300/2.8 for Pentax as available for pre-order. Maybe that is good news?

I have been fortunate to have tested the newer Sigma 180mm f/2.8 [IF] APO EX DG on my Nikon D4 - and optically it isn't much better than the slightly slower f/3.5 version - Considering the price you are really paying for the extra half stop and the OS - that is all.

I did a side by side test with the Nikon D200 - which uses the same sensor as the K10D - and I used the older 180mm f/3.5 [IF] APO EX on the K10 and optically both lenses are practically Identical. I would have to say the 150mm f/2.8 APO [IF] EX DG is the sweet spot for Sigma macro lenses.
