DA* 200f2.8 SDM specs

From Chasseur d'Images's test:

L=134mm
l=83mm
filter size 77mm
weight=909g
9 elements in 8 groups

Distorsion=-0.03% ( for reference distorsion on the 50-135 is ranging from 0.4% to -0.4% from one end to the other, passing through 0 in the middle of the range and is considered very moderate).

Vigneting=0.2IL@f2.8, 0IL from f4. Almost perfect figures = FF coverage IMO.

CA=0.12mm max on a 30x40cm print (for reference, CA on the 50-135@135 is 0.21mm max and is considered moderate (worst setting for this zoom, CA ranging from 0.12 to 0.04 at smaller focals).

(Note: the procedure for judging CA is to look at a 30x40cm print and mesure the worst CA fringes anywhere in the picture so it is really a mesure of the worst case scenario)

Judging from that, DA* primes are going to be an excellent bunch!

Regardless, this prime is always going to be on my list of purchase.

This has been a long wait in deed.

Given Da* zooms are of reasonable quality, sure primes are going to be even better!

To be honest, CA is the biggest concern I would have concerning to this prime as Fa* 200 I tried before had quite gross CA in street shooting.

Thanks for the info

Well judging from this test, you don"t have to worry on the CA front.

It seems excellent from this point of view.

For a comparison, the FA*200/2.8 specs:

L=134mm
l=83mm
filter size 77mm
weight=785g
9 elements in 8 groups

Looks quite similar in most specs except the weight, probably due to the weather sealing on the DA*200/2.8?

I have the FA*200/2.8, and I'd say it's one of the best lenses I've ever used (and I've used quite a lot). Seems the DA*200/2.8 is an even better one.

One thing though, I still prefer the look of the old FA*200/2.8
