New to me DA 35mm f2.4!!

I bought this lens because of the sparkling reviews here. I have had the lens in my grubby little paws for a few hours now and I can see that this lens will be on my camera a lot! This is my first AF prime lens and I can say that I am damn impressed. I got home tonight and dropped everything and opened my box from B&H Photo immediately.

Here are a few photos straight out of the box. All shot at iso 200 and f2.4 handheld.

Great set -- and that flower looks good enough to eat. There's nothing like a sharp fast lens wide open. So, could this be the start of a prime obsession, or do you have MF primes also? At any rate, just the fact that you've already had a blast with this lens shows its value.

I do have other MF primes, but I find myself not using them because of the MF. I just can't seem to get the hang of MF. I have a Pentax M 50mm f2.0 and a Pentax Super Tak 50mm f1.4 with the genuine Pentax M42 adapter. I also have a Sears 135mm prime but I don't seem to use any of them. After playing around with this 35mm AF I think I just might have to get some more primes in the future!

I'm waiting for my DAL 35 to arrive, your pics are making me more impatient.

Stick with the MF primes, they are very rewarding but take practice. Your Super Tak has a particularly good reputation.

Very nice photos.

I was just searching some threads for sample 35 f/2.4 pics, trying to convince a friend to purchase one. Your frosted rose photo ought to be ON THE BOX of the lens when you purchase it! Absolutely lovely

Very impressed... I keep trying to save for the DA35Ltd but things keep going wrong... The DA 35mm 2.4 is looking like more of an option financially and your pictures are a plus in its favour...

Thanks for all of the kind comments! It really inspires me to shoot more when I get comments like this.

This lens is truly a gem. I can't wait to start shooting some landscape shots with it!

It has. I bought mine about 10 months ago for $225, plus another $25 I spent on a lens hood and cap. Highly recommend a hood for this lens if you buy it. The price drop of over $50 in a year is pretty awesome, about 20% or so. It's a great lens and a steal at that price. The plastic hasn't been a concern at all, and my only issue is the six blades... that's it.

That flower pic is awesome by the way. I need to shoot more, sigh.
