Pentax da* 200/4 macro????

Is there a chance that we get a pentax da* 200/4 macro?
I would love this lens.

What do you think?

Personally, I don't see it happening anytime soon. There's a pretty long list of lenses that Pentax should (and likely would) release before a DA*200/4 macro. I could (obviously) be wrong about it, but I wouldn't hold my breath

Well who knows what news is coming at PhotoKina 2014? I don't see it coming soon (like 2012) to be honest, but I do think that is a lens that should be in the program for Pentax.

as much as I agree with this..... there were so many lenses Pentax could have and probably should have released before DFA100 WR

With these guys one never knows and with Ricoh in charge and aiming high.... one never knows

Even if Pentax release an updated version, would most people on this forum be prepared to buy one?

I don't know, I think the 100WR was a good release. It may not have filled a missing gap since the non-WR DFA100 was already in the lineup, but it represented everything that (most) people love about Pentax glass; it was well built, WR, small and had outstanding IQ. As I sell off a good chunk of my Pentax glass, the 100WR will certainly be one of the last as almost any small Pentax kit I keep would include that lens.

That was rhetorical, right

Well there is some enthusiasme about this lens in the lenssurvey, but only to a limit. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/20195454/print.pdf

Looking at prices:
Canon 180mm/f3.5 USM Macro for 1299 euro
Nikon 200mm/f4.0 IF ED for 1379 euro
Sigma 150mm/f2.8 EX DG Macro OS HSM for 839 euro
Tamron 180mm/f3.5 DI LD IF Macro for 669 euro.

Non of these are for Pentax at the time, but the Sigma should be available in 2012. I looked at the Canon lens and it is in the top 20 of hi-priced items in the (canon)lenssection, but it is not in the top 40 of (canon)lens popularity.

So a Pentax D-FA*200mm/f4.0 wouldn't be a mega sellar and the price would be in the same range as Canon/Nikon is. On the other hand this is a lens for wich people just buy a combo of camera and lens for their specialty use when the lens is good enough to get those excellent images.

When Pentax came out with the FA*200/4 Macro just after the turn of the century there were lots of other lenses that would have made more market sense and sold many times more units. But Pentax did it anyway. Glad I bought one then!

For a company that makes lenses like 43's and 77's or 60-250 or any other non-traditional focal length it's not beyond possible that they would release a 200 macro. It's pretty doubtful, but it's Pentax...So I guess I should sell my FA*200 quick before the new one comes out? I'd be embarrased to name a price...

Based on current FA* and F* prices, if they came out with an APS-C DA*200mm macro, the price for the FA* would probably be the same or more.

An F*300f4.5 went for $1300 recently on the auction site. The DA*300f4 did nothing to lower the prices of FA*300 or F*300 glass.

Anyways, with the renewed full frame chatter going on, why ask for DA*200 macro and not DFA*200 macro?

Since I'm a diehard FA* and FA Limited guy, it's unlikely that I'd want to dump the FA* for a DFA* or whatever it would be.

Shot some very nice 1:1 human eyeball shots for the museum I work for today (with the FA*200 macro). We will be displaying them on a 50" high def TV to accompany a new exhibit we are opening in a couple weeks. If you want to creep yourself out, look at a macro closeup of an eye expanded to fit a big TV or monitor. Who designed such creepy eyeballs anyway?
