How many of you guys buy Tamron for their 6 year warranty.

My telephoto is approaching its 3rd year of the warranty and thankfully have yet to send it in for anything.

Sigma offers 1 year international warranty inclusive of 3 years USA warranty so thats 3 years.

I buy Tamron if the lens is good, though the 6 year warranty gives peace of mind. Had to send in my 17-50 multiple times for zoom ring failure, inaccurate focus, and the filter ring wobble. If it didn't have the 6 year warranty I might reconsider.

Anyway, aren't you based in Singapore? Tamron lenses there AFAIK are 3 year local or 1 year international (choice of either). Unless you plan to send your lenses directly to the US for servicing, which I presume will cost a lot.

Not really. I am used with dealing with US items that are usually a whole lot better value then what you normally get. If i need to send for service, the postage surprisingly doesnt cost a lot.

Warranty was a factor in my selecting the Tamron 10-24 rather than a Sigma 10-20 or the DA12-24.

Same here when deciding on a 70-200mm/F2.8 zoom. The 6 year warranty (besides the optical properties), clinched the deal.

That was a factor for me, as was the more consistent QC by Tamron over Sigma.

Warranty is always a factor in my lens' purchases, & 6-Years worth provides a comfort factor.

didnt purchase it with warranty as a thought to be honest, rather value for money for the great optics

im a big fan of tamron lenses when the lens is right (been lucky so far) - i have the 17-50, 90mm and 70-200

although the 17-50 was off here used (but serviced from tamron from the previous owner) the other two have been stellar from day one
