I with all the others wishing for a 24mm, it's probably the only lens that would entice me to buy another lens right now. This preview of the soon-to-be-released Samyang 24mm makes it look like a beautifully-made lens. Metal construction, full-frame, close focusing (less than a foot) and f1.4 . . . if only it works as well as it looks on paper:
Here's hoping we'll get some sample images soon. It's interesting to see how many Samyang (and derivatives) have been listed in this thread...looks like it'll be a good year for them (at least from us enthusiasts).

First, a DA 18-135 to replace the kit 18-55
Second, either the DA12-24 or a WA prime (undecided, probably go for the zoom)
Third, funds and Pentax permitting, a DA* 16-50 version II or if that's not in the cards then a Ltd prime

Oh, and while not exactly LBA, I will in inheriting 3 screwmount Takumars from my uncle together with a Spotmatic.

I kind of hope I wouldn't buy anything as I don't really NEED anything. I haven't really shot enough with all the lenses and cameras I have to justify new acquisitions. But to be realistic, in the end I will end up buying:

-Replacement for K7 or K20 (probably K5, rumoured new body is anyway too expensive new)
-Prime in the range of 30-35mm (DA 35/2.4, Sigma 30/1.4, DA 35/2.8 macro or something like that)
-May be too tempted by 18-135WR (I really liked the 28-200 range when I shot with KM A200 many years ago and WR is a big plus)
-Something longer than 300mm with AF for birding (should also be quite light weight so most likely impossible function)

Doesn't look too good moneywise but I'd love to own those

After saying my only goal was the FA ltd trio (which will take more than a year I think) I see the Pictures of what purports to be the new Fuji X1 ilc and now I have serious lust for another camera as well I may have to sell off some things - might be time to kiss my medium format goodbye

I blame the macro club. All those gorgeous pictures - all taken with the 100mm macro. *shakes head* And it's only Day Two of the New Year.

I'd still like to get a F 28-70 to see whether it really does compete against the F 35-70 but it's not urgent, so I'm willing to wait until the right price comes along.

Still toying with the idea of a PKA mount if I can bring myself to spend the money. I'm pretty happy with the pk m mounts atm to be honest.

What else... oh, a sigma 17-70. But again, not sure. Going overseas later this year and am trying to compress my kit so I can cover all my needs. It's that or get talked into a Tamron 28-200 AF. (or just settle with my 18-50 and 35-70 instead)

They're the only ones, and short of the PKA none of them are true 'needs' more like... wants. But I have soooo many lenses now. Maybe the real question is, what lenses are you willing to let go of this year?
You didn't have to buy the m100/4 to achieve great macro images. Most of those shots were made with a reversed lens or reverse stacked lenses. Besides, the M100/4 only produces 1:2 macro, not true 1:1.

For the FA 28-70 (there is no F 28-70) vs. F35-70, I have both and definitely recommend F28-70, it has better coverage and similar IQ to the F35-70, that's probably why it's more expensive

If I confess it here, am I committed to buying it?

I'm musing about switching from the 50-135 over to the 60-250, for the reach. But worried about the bulk. I don't do 'pods much.
The DA70 is a must-have. My fav lens on Sony was the 100/f2. But I'd see the 70 as redundant with the 50-135 somewhat. Another nod to the 60-250?
Also hovering around the 12-24, and then choosing between it and the 15/21 limited combo. But that hood!
I keep wondering if I should liquidate the 18-135 as it doesn't inspire. But then, is it just the perfect take-anywhere/travel lens? Then why do I have all these primes back at home?

That's it. This is a sick, sick thread.

I said just a few posts ago that I'd get either the Samyang 8mm fisheye or 14mm rectilinear, which I was pretty sure about. For anyone interested, the Bower version of the fisheye is now $250 at B&H.

But just a few minutes ago I bought a DA 10-17mm fisheye zoom instead. I reconsidered for a few reasons. The DA is smaller and lighter, which for me directly translates into using it more. It also focuses closer. I currently defish a 16mm FE to get wider than 16mm, and I can still do that with the DA. The AF also is handy for fisheye, because details are really small in the viewfinder. With manual focus, I tend to just let the DOF cover errors.

So now I'm committed to selling my current fisheye and another lens to pay for the DA.

I think I am going to get the Pentax FA 43 Limited, though I am sorely tempted by the DA 15 Limited as well. Also, the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is tempting too.

Hello, what's this?

Actually purchased in 2011, but just arrived:

View Picture EXIF
Name: _IGP0770.jpg
Views: 875
Size: 39.8 KB

Typical KEH "bargain" condition: cosmetics merely very good rather than excellent, glass and mechanics beautiful.

Now to discover if I can learn to manage a 400mm lens...

LBA striked already this year for me.

I ordered a few weeks ago the FA645 120/4 macro lens which arrived yesterday.

There is also a Zeiss 25/2 on the way, but in Nikon mount.

Apart from these, I am looking for a lens for the 645D between the DFA645 25/4 and DFA645 55/2.8. It might be the FA35, but later in the year.

Nice. Good to know the KEH is consistent in its under-estimates of the condition of lenses. I wish they allowed people to see the items, but even if you live a few miles away its simply a drop off for maintenance, no storefront at all.
