So I just bought this lens off ebay.. I have 7 days to return it... But when i try to mount it the keys don't seem to be in the right place... Take a look:



This doesn't look normal.. I compared it to my other lenses and it just doesn't look right... Any help would be appreciated...

Are you sure it's PK mount? The aperture lever looks to be in about the right place, but it doesn't look like any of my P/K mounts. Could it be a Contax/Yashica mount?

I wouldn't return it yet. I think i've seen other threads before on this lens and that large fin on the flange. I think older film cameras can handle it just fine, while DSLRs tend to have more guts or just narrower mount internals that this "not quite fitting the PK specification" mount fin hits. It sounds like generally you should be able to remove it with a screw or 3 to be able to replace later if you're selling it, or others just cut it off completely since it's basically extraneous.

There are more/better threads (as I recall), but this was the first one I could find that seemed to corroborate what I'm saying.

I had the same problem with mine. I just shaved off the plastic fin a little at a time until it screwed on. I just had to shave off the "ramp" part of the plastic fin, probably around 3/32". Easily done with an exacto knife.

Thanks all... I contacted the seller, he says he can mount it on his k-5. I am not sure how that would be possible.. but decided to return it and look for another prime.
