Ed in GA

There were no photography treasures under the tree for me this year. Except, my step-son gave me a $100 gift card for Ritz Camera. The card can only be used in their store and not for on-line purchases. I purchased an infra-red remote "F" and an aluminum case to carry items that are not normally in my bag.

My pretty wife gave me the 3 book set "The Complete Calvin & Hobbes" along with a little Giant Ladder.

Overall, pretty good Christmas at Ed's house.

Oh, and BTW, my daughter got a K100D w/18-55 kit and Tamron 70-300.,

I was very lucky. must of been very good as I received a Pentax 16-45 Zoom, a Pentax Battery Grip and an extra battery for my K10D.

Along with the magic lantern K10D manual and the Yvon Bourque K10D manual, which I find very good.

Well, my goodies included a shiny new Manfrotto monopod to replace my old walking stick. And, though it wasn't under the tree, I also "got" a Promaster 19-35 manual-focus lens that the spousal unit pulled out of the closet and said "Why haven't you used this lens?" We apparently bought it years ago to use when our son was starting band and I just plain ol' forgot it existed... So now I have something new to play with and nobody had to pay for it (recently ).

I'm gonna be a Pentax man finally

I got the ok from my wife to order the K10D, a Sandisk 2GB SD memory card, FA50mm f/1.4 and DA18-250mm lenses. I just got the "it's been shipped" email earlier today. I'm so excited! I didn't order the 18-250 yet because Beach didn't have one in stock so I'll probably order it from B&H.

My step-daughter got a real fine gift under her tree from her husband - A Canon- 40D with the 17-55mm IS lens. Must be nice.

Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas, happy holiday and have a Happy New Year!

I got my long wanted Sigma EX 10-20. But then I was generous Santa too. My fiance unpacked long wanted 1:1 macor - Sigma EX 105.
Now, that's what I call Christmas

Actually, I got a book called ''The Voice of the Martyrs'' from my wife; so it was a great Christmas. We don't place allot of emphasis on gifts, as that is not what the season is about.

likewise, Mechan1k. Been really happy with it so far. Made a great party lens with all the nieces and nephews over at my place that evening. Just wish it was a little wider, but I'll get used to it. Love the bokeh I get from it.
Ahhhh ... I got plenty of shots of both my nieces (18 months old) ... now I need the time to sort through them and upload (and share with the forum).

I have been loving this lens since I took it out of the box (its still on the camera even now).

It was a DIY thing

My list, which included something more recent than Photoshop Elements 2.0, was ignored in favor of lots of suprises including the announcement that I will be a new grandfather twice over this time next year, God willing. The Princess is having twins!

On the other hand, owing to an accident in bidding, I purchased a Sigma 17-70 on the 23rd via eBay. At least I think it was an accident. I'm very happy with it so far, though.

The only downside is that it postpones my ability to get the Sigma 10-20, which I covet. Any comments on value for money for that lens would be appreciated. I'm thinking of shots inside buildings as well as aircraft interiors and exteriors at various air shows, including Oshkosh. (If you have to ask about Oshkosh, Google "AirVenture")

Anyone want the 18-55 kit lens at twice what it's worth??
