Rokinon 135 f2.8 lens with Pentax Kx

Hello folks,

I am new to this forum. I am a recent entrant to the DSLR club and still taking baby steps. I bought a used lens off ebay, a Rokinon 135 mm f2.8 lens with a k-mount to be used with a Pentax Kx. I have been having trouble mounting it. However I play around with it, it just won't fit right. Any knowledge or pointers about this lens would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome to the forum. Can you post a picture showing a close up of the mount?

Ebay seller might failed to verify the mount , I see this all the time.
The best way is to upload a photo.

I was under the impression that the Rokinon 135 came in Minolta mount?

Mine (serial # 141658) is in PK-M mount. The mount is not labeled. If Ricoh made Rokinon sold different versions, we'd indeed need to see a picture of the mount to tell just which it is.

EDIT: Correction in italics.

Rokinon, not Rikenon. Rokinon was a reseller, just like Vivitar. They sold lenses in FD, F, and MD mounts for sure, not sure about PK. The only one I've seen listed is a 500mm mirror. The newer Rokinons are just rebadged Samyangs.

You're right, I mis-spoke (early morning confusion), and it's fixed. Yes, Rokinon (old days, like pre-AF) was the badge on lenses with Pentax mounts. My two Rokinons are 28/2.8 and 135/2.8, both PK-M mount.

PS: I hate the Rokinon name, just because it's so confusable with Rikenon. Seems like a cheap rip-off name, like photo gear labeled Pantex or Nokon or Cannon, or a Fendar guitar. [/me grumbles & whines]

Thanks for the info folks. I bought it with the impression that it was an RK mount, which would fit a Kx. Anyway, here is a photo of the lens. I have marked the mount flanges. Please let me know what you guys think.

Thank you.

iF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING IT ON THOUGH...DO NOT FORCE IT!!
I had a small panic last weekend from an older Focal MC lens that had a Ricoh pin...well not really but it had a pin that once i did get it on...well a hacksaw got involved. If it does not fit do not force it. Big lesson learned for me.

Man i wish i had pics of it but after the 2 hours of trying to twist, disassemble and finally cut this lens in half and then having it finally just pop off with a yank in the right direction...well that lens got tossed quick. this thing was solid metal and was made like a tank. wish it would have fit! No harm to the K-x at least

The image is not showing. I have a Kalimar lens PK-R mount that would not fit because the flange that protects the aperture lever was too big. I removed the 2 small screws holding the flange and removed it. Works fine now. Don't know if that is your problem or not. If it is a PK mount, that would be something to look at. Also if it has the Ricoh pin, make sure to remove it before mounting.

THis is definitely not a K-mount lens. Looks like Canon or something.

There seem to have two aperture levers, K-mount only has 1.

Not a Canon FD, it's an Olympus OM mount. Identifiable by the lens release and stop down buttons opposite each other.
