Low serial number

Hi, I know this sound stupid but I was just wondering if having a low serial number lens <500 a good thing? like for example quality wise. I'm looking at this A lens with a low serial number, and was wondering if it is sought-after by lens aficionados? or it does not really matter?

It might gather interest from collectors in a similar way as first editions do, but otherwise it shouldn't matter. Unless it is known that QC varied for the lens and you can use the S/N to determine if it is from a better lot, it shouldn't have any practical importance.

There are a variety of lenses put out by Pentax over the years that have had several versions that were not clearly identified by any product markings. You can see that in these examples:

Pentax 45-125mm F4 Reviews - K Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

SMC/S-M-C/Super-/Auto-/Takumar 55mm F1.8 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Normal Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

So, in those instances low serial number might be attractive because it matches with a specific version of a lens.
