Trust me I was as confused as I'm making you now
Here it goes:
Back in a days I had K50/1.2, K55/1.8 and FA43 on K10D. I bought DA*55 and returned it within days as it wasn't as good as I wanted. I sold K55 as it rarely made it's way onto the camera.
Then I got K-7 and for some reason, even with the same split prism type screen as on my old K10 I couldn't MF anything. Could have been dud screen, or me or my failing eyesight (I started to wear glasses at just about that time and found it all very discmforting - glasses on, off when shooting etc...) So the K50/1.2 went. I kept 43 because I loved the output but focal length felt bit short. At the same time I had 77 too. I wasn't too bothere with the constant swapping. So I decided to try 55 again. After I got it I sold off 77 and shortly after 43 too. Focal length wise 55 is great on crop body but reviewing my pictures, 43 pleases my eye better. So I bought black MIJ 43, which wasn't up to standard IQ wise for me so I sold I off quickly. Then I bought another good copy of silve MIJ at very cheap and since I needed cash I resold it with nice profit. Why I didn't sell 55? I bought that one new and selling it would (and still will) incure big loss! After selling the 3rd copy I missed the IQ so I got myself 4th copy, and roughly at the same time I bought FA*28-70. Immediately fell in love with that one and since I needed to cover the expenditure, guess what lens I could sell with profit?... So there you go, that's why I have kept the 55 until the end..43s come easy so I was never afraid I would not be able to buy another one. 55s come used very rarely in UK and as I said, selling my new one will incurr loss. I'll end up selling it for less than used 43s go, and by quite some margin.
Knowing what I know now, if coming back to Pentax, I'd go with FA*24, FA43ltd and most probably FA100/2.8 macro...
