DA* 50-135mm

I am really close to ordering a DA* 50-135! There are so many lenses I want but I keep coming back to this one. Dang it, how in the heck are you supposed to choose with so many to choose from.....arghhhh

Buying these stupid lenses is such an investment I really don't want to screw it up! Thanks for letting me rant!

I seriously considered that one a year ago,
as an upgrade from my M50/1.4 and M100/2.8,
but SDM concerns, a love of primes,
and preference for manual focus
led me to the Voigtlaender 58/1.4 and 90/3.5 instead.

Superb lens. My favorite.

My only hesitation was the SDM concerns. I wound up getting a 7 year Mack Extended Warranty for about 35 dollars. Not had to use it and no way to know how good or bad the third party warranty would turn out if I had to use it. But it got me some piece of mind.

Good luck with your decision.

Great lens.

Go ahead.

DA* 16-50 and DA* 50-135 are responsible for 90% of my photos.

The DA* 50-135 is a superb lens - the SDM does not concern me as I use it 90% of the time in MF...

One of my favorites as well. I've had it for 3+ years and I find it perfect for portraits, close action, and even landscape shots. I have the DA 70 as well. And I feel it compares very favorably against it for portraits. Not saying it is sharper....just it would be hard for me to pick out one over the other. I find it amazingly sharp wide open and it peaks somewhere around f4-4.5. The only other comment I would share is that the images tend to be slightly warmer than my DA ltds. I'm not sure whether others notice the same thing. But overall, I would say the DA* is my favorite lens.

I sold my Tamron 70-200 to buy the 50-135. I have never looked back. It is an awesome lens.

My DA*50-135 has become one of my most used lenses. It is heavy, but it is a great lens in the field or for travel. It is hard to go wrong with a DA.

This is the lens that sold me on Pentax over 3 years ago, and I've never been disappointed. Always a pleasure to use. Great for portraits and concerts. Very good IQ wide open, and spectacular when stopped down a notch. Used for many thousands of shots, most using autofocus, without any SDM glitches. For me, weight and balance are great. I can use it all day without tiring, although it might get heavy on a neck strap (I never use one).

It is difficut to provide any direct suggestion without knowing:
- what do you want the DA*50-135mm for> what do you intend to shoot?
- how does it fit with your present line-up?

LBA strikes everyone, everywhere, eerywhen, but let is be LBA smart about our lens selection....

DA*50-135 is a great lens, I had mine for few months on K20d and it was pretty versatile combo with FA31.....however it somehow felt too big on K-5
anyway if you don't mind size, go for it.......nad regarding SDM, yes it is slow, but very precise....I think I rarely had missfocused with it
