Could someone post a photo showing this CA so that I may see an example? Preferably one taken with the Tamron lens in question.

Edited because google is your friend. I've seen examples, but would still like to see samples taken with the Tamron lens.

I have used both the Tamron and thePentax 50-200. Can recommend both lens.
Budget wise, the Tamron may be more economical to purchase.
Regarding the CA (purple fringing) yes I have experienced it but only in very bright glarey situations. Macro is quite effective as well.Is a great buy for its price, IMOH.
For example I add this photo :
Tamron 70-300 ld DI.

Thank you, Bramela. Can you give any details of the shot? EXIF info if possible.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Pentax 50-200mm.

I'd like to thank all who've replied with terrific advice. The fool has parted with his money. I decided on the Tamron lens. After looking at hundreds of sample photos taken with both lenses my determination was that up to the 200mm range (as was stated) the image quality was very similar. At time the Pentax was better and others the Tamron came out on top. My guess was the difference was mainly in the person behind the camera. I'll just have live with the CA that can sometimes occur in the 200mm - 300mm. The macro performance was the deciding factor. The Tamron seems to perform better in this area.

Again, I like to say Thank you to everyone.
