I wasn't aware that any of the major Japanese companies (at least with older manual lenses) made lenses in China, Korea etc.

Sorry, I meany Samyang not Samsung. I was about asleep when I wrote that. I've corrected the post.

Samyang has been churning out 3rd-party lenses for quite a while -- I've had a few longish (~70-210) MF zooms by Samyang, in PK(R) & M42 & Nikon mounts, labeled Sears or Albinar; and a couple different Samyang-made Sears 135/2.8s in PK; all these dating from the mid-1980s.

Yea I was up too late too, hacking on a lens of all things (probably could have found a better time to do that). I meant more along the lines of what was ricoh's relation to them. I'm starting to gather that there are more than a few samyang lenses that are decent enough (seen a few others people seemed to think were good)?
