Bokeh: FA 100/2.8 Macro vs. Tamron 90/2.8 Di Macro

Any thoughts on the quality of the bokeh of the FA (not D-FA) 100/2.8 Macro vs. the Tamron 90/2.8 Di Macro?

I see that the FA was rated 10 for bokeh in the user reviews here, compared to 9.3 for the Tamron, but after reading through all of them I didn't find any that sounded like the same person had tried both.

Thanks,

Greg

The Tamron has rounded aperature blades so any OOF highlights (when stopped down) will appear as circles, not hexagons as with the FA. While I don't have the FA, I would give the nod to the Tamron as a result. Besides highlights, images I've seen from the FA (compared against my Tamron) seem pretty much the same in terms of bokeh.

I don't have the Tamron but I rate my FA100/2.8 Macro above the FA77/1.8 on bokeh and sharpness.

don't worry yourself about the ratings. both lenses are great. it comes down to that extra 10mm and rendering. if you want to get the Pentax colors, then the choice is Pentax.
