35-80 4/5.6 questions...

Well, first off, hi to everyone in the forums. I'm Matt, I live in Calgary, and I've got a K-1000 and shoot Provia.
Now, I'm looking into getting a new lens for my K-1000, and I'm hoping that SOMEONE will be able to help me! I'm now looking at the 35-80 shown here: 27174 Pentax-f Smc 35-80 4/5.6 *49
I figure that because the price is so low, I haven't exactly got that much to lose, but I've still got a few questions.
This lens appears to mount to the K-1000 and function properly on it, but can you control aperture and focus manually?
Since I'm probably out of luck, can anyone reccomend some lenses that would work, have good IQ, contrast and colour, and are in that zoom range?

Well, er...
Thanks for the witty and informative replies....
I bought it, and I hope it works out. Now, I shall disappear into the night, never to be seen again.
Happy New Year all!

We probably could have, if you hadn't been so impatient and vanished never to be seen again.

Why wouldn't it work? It has an aperture ring, you just wouldn't make use of the autofocus.
Maybe folks were busy celebrating (and/or recovering) from New Years? Patience.....

Apparently it's a good thing I had notifications on!
I figured if there weren't any replies in 2 days, it would sink to the bottom of the forum, an receed into oblivion. That's generally what happens, after all!
Thanks for the link to the review pentaxtic, I guess I shoul have gone for the 28-80, eh? =(
egordon: I couldn't tell from the pictures whether it had a movable aperture ring or not, and I was worried that that feature might have been auto-only.
