What to buy next?

I have a K20d and the following lenses:
  • DA15
  • DA21
  • DA40
  • A50/1.4
  • DA70
  • Tamron 90 AF
  • Sigma 100-300/4

As of now, I don't have needs for anything longer than 300mm as I hardly am using the Sigma now (I have it for trips to the zoo, occasional birding, and outdoor sports when my kids are older). Also, the DA15 is plenty wide. I find it too wide, often. My thoughts right now:
  1. Replace A50/1.4 with DA*55 since I could use a lens that is sealed. This would also eliminate my MF lenses from my bag which would be a positive. DA*55 is $$$ though. I can get the AF for much cheaper by getting the FA50.
  2. Fill the gap between the DA21 and DA40. I don't think the FA31 is a real option because of price (this gap is not worth spending $900 on). Sigma 30/1.4 or 28/1.8 are options. Also, the FA28/2.8 comes to mind, but I heard it's rendering is rather bland and that I'd probably rather step back with the DA40.
  3. Wait to see what Pentax has coming, particularly with WR.
  4. Keep the lens selection as is, and upgrade the body to a K-5.

My biggest wish is for more DA* primes in the wide-normal range....

Wait a couple weeks. There is supposed to be a lens roadmap coming out soon. Have you considered a K-01?

A few thoughts:
* Wait a few weks before deciding or not to upgrade the body; I would like, in your place, to have a better ida of the forthcoming new Pentax model, although the K-5 is likely an attractive option.

*Should you not consider a 17-50mm f2.8 zoom (DA* 16-50mm vs. Sigma and Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 Comparison - Introduction - PentaxForums.com) as an option? It would nicely cover the gap between the 21 and 40 mm prime lenses, and give you the convenience of a zoom. The PF in-depth lesn comparison is a solid reference. Both the Tamron and Sigma lenses are currently discounted (See PF front page).

Food for thought. Hope that the info may help.

I had the Tammy 17-50 and sold it after getting the limiteds. It went on the camera maybe twice after getting them.
