I agree, f/1.8 with a plastic mount, the same treatment they gave the FA 35mm f2/ DA 35 2.4. That does seem to me like the right thing to do.
I agree, too, ... and I would buy a f/1.8 like this in a millisecond if its of the same caliber as my DA 35 f2.4 !!!

I wonder why they have another superzoom (18-200mm) when there is 18-135 WR that just came out. Did that lens totally flop?

Wide zoom could be a WR refresh and/or update of DA12-24, maybe DA 12-24 II or DA 12-24 WR DC, with that new af motor.
Zoom Ltd. sounds interesting, though I already have the 21 and 40mm. It would probably be 3.2/3.5/4 max aperture to go with the small, slow, high quality of DA Ltds.

Also curious that the telephoto prime (550mm) looks not to be DA*. Hopefully it is at least WR, to appeal to the birders/wildlife photogs. Take that to a rainforest/safari vacation.

Actually...its very possible.

Recent interviews have hinted that Pentax under Ricoh isnt opposed to exploring FF ideas. A 24(ish)-85(ish) lens in 2013 would be the perfect lens to release to match with any potential FF body. It would make sense that Pentax wouldnt want to label this as an DFA* lens now on the roadmap, as it would pretty much give away the development of a FF body. The naming of the lens could potentially be modified in the future...

If its a true APS DA* lens, then its likely a welcome improvement to the 16-50 currently on the market. While I generally love my 16-50, it does have its moments on my K10 where it shows some glaring weaknesses...

The teleconverter, zoom limited, and wide zoom have the most interest to me...especially if the wide zoom has seals. A tele zoom beyond 300 could also be interesting if the specs are right or if its sealed.

This is what the Pentax lineup has been missing for years. I'm very excited about this, I love my 50mm 1.7 M, I use it all the time with both my ME Super and k-x but a affordable DA 50mm f1.x is just the ticket.

So am I seeing a new version of the 18-250 on here? I'm really excited about that AF TC (even if it isn't until 2013). Also, DA 550? Wow. o_O

Looks like the DA Limited Zoom could be a wide angle zoom for FF!

The name of lenses are not final names. Don't make conclusion.

This is good and everything but it's quite conservative. Which is good in that it probably means it's realistic. I presume the telephoto is the same telephoto that's been knocking around Pentax's development labs for the past 3 or 4 years and we've known about a super telephoto zoom for a while as well (although that one isn't coming until sometime next year).

Assming the standard lens is a rebadged FA 50mm I wonder if it will be introduced alongside the K-r replacement in DA L format, maybe with the super-zoom. The telephoto could come at the same time or much later in the year for photokina?

Edit: andif XS lenses are only going to be compatible with mirrorless bodies I suspect none of the three lenses this year will be XS

What does "High Magnification" Zoom Lens mean? 1:1 macro in a zoom?

A DA 24-150 Macro would certainly be an interesting lens. I'm guessing a little on the lengths because the zoom shading in Pentax' PDF allows for wiggle room.

Some of it, hopefully, however:
1. Some people are naturally pessimistic, and nothing will ever be good enough.
2. Some have made it their life's mission to attack Pentax and/or Pentaxians.

high mag zoom refers to the zoom power/ratio, e.g. 5x, etc not the image magnification properties of the lens. Generally speaking anyway.

ish.

Most of the things for this year are already lenses we knew about - for example the telephoto was on the last lens map Pentax made years ago. I suspect all the Ricoh influenced stuff is in the 2013 section (which is subject to change as stated on the roadmap).

It's looking good!

I'm kind of nervous about the 550(ish) lens. More than a couple of grand and my wife might just beat me with it if I came home with one!

Having said that, I think it's safe to assume that some of the lenses listed as DA right now might graduate to a DA* type lens as we get closer. I can't think of one reason (as an example) the super telephoto would be anything less.

Whether or not the future lenses will cover a 24x36mm sensor or not remains to be seen, but I could see Pentax phasing out a number of DA aps-c specific lenses and upgrading them to cover FF while keeping the DA/DA* designation in place.

Overall, the road-map is a welcome sign of whats to come. (Thanks Pentax-Ricoh!)

Really? Not so sure about that. I suspect it's probably more like an APS-C version of the F 35-70 with better optics, much better build quality, designed to fill the DA limited gap between 21mm and 35mm. It will designed to be small, therefore variable aperture.

I do suspect DA* ~24-75 will be FF and a precursor to a possible FF in 2014 or 2015.

The DA 50 will almost certainly be a cheap companion to DA 35/2.4 with an aperture somewhere between 1.7 and 2.

My guess for the Limited zoom would be a rework of the FA 20-35/4.

And the "DA Wide Zoom"?
Maybe a Pentax version of the Tokina 16-28/2.8.
