True. But than again the DA35 2.4,DA*200 and DA*300 are said to work without any problems on fullframe.

Well, this roadmap helped me to decide...

I see in the roadmap that, despite all recent rumours, Pentax has no intention to enter FF market. You'll see a lot of my Pentax stuff in marketplace soon

Why from a market perspective? Marketing to whom? This would not be a professional lens: Pentax AF is not good enough for them to be marketing to pros, in any case. This would be marketed to the crowd that buys those Sigma 500mm zooms, both of which are f6.3. And it wouldn't have to be 6.3. It could be 5.6, 5.8, or 6.1. It just depends on whatever price point Pentax wishes to reach while still maintaining prime quality.

Whatever the max aperture, somebody is going to comeout with a slow long lens at some point. With the light sensitivity of current digital sensors, it makes sense. It's just a matter of improving the light sensitivity of the AF.

Being a dual brand user (Canon/Pentax) I can attest to many Canon users shouting out for a lens that bridges the huge divide between their relatively cheap 100-400 zoom/400 f5.6 prime & the white super telephotos that start at about $5000-6000. Many turn to Sigma for the 500mm zooms or the new 120-300. Pentax seems to have answered what many from across all brands have been wishing for (hopefully).

A new 50 is on there for this year!! Could they be coming out with an inexpensive 50/1.8 like other camera companies???

This is good news. On another note, did they stop making the FA50/1.4? It's not on the lineup of current lenses on the chart? So, perhaps its just a DA refresh of the 50/1.4? The zoom ranges look exciting - redeveloping the 18-250 it looks like and adding a nice short tele-zoom too.

There's a disturbing lack of 'F's in the line up, as in 'DFA', but is that an AF teleconverter I see in 2013?

One thing that I think its really important to remember is that Ricoh has said that they are rehiring a lot of the engineers that Hoya discharged in the lens design department. If that happens I could see a lot changing in the 2013-14 timeframe. Again, if that holds true, that would make this Roadmap an outline to which a lot more is likely to be added over the coming months. So far, so good.

Pfff... So much negativity!

I think this is wonderful news. Pentax is back in the picture after Hoya took it out.

In five or so years they will have improved the talent pool enough to start designing real glass. I can't wait!

I'm kind of nervous about the 550(ish) lens. More than a couple of grand and my wife might just beat me with it if I came home with one!
So I guess you're hoping for a DA* with that nice soft rubberized coating

Cheers for a Pentax DA 550mm !! No SDM please but weather sealed.

This seems to be on the roadmap for 2012-2013 BUT I hope Pentax will not fool us again as they did when they had a SDM TC on a previous roadmap.
If it happens, I am betting it to be available only in 2013.

You're probably right, but the original roadmap (DSLR Photography ) showed the 200 & 300 as DFA's (no star). I'll keep hoping.
Interesting, I hadn't seen that before. I wonder why they didn't release the teles as D FA, since they are clearly FF compatible?

I have a feeling that the wide angle zoom and 550mm will be WR.

DA 135-400 - really hope it will be in this range. What a great wildlife/hiking lens this will be! A good quality 100-300 f4 like the Sigma would be welcome too.
Totally agree! I have been tempted many times to get the DA* 60-250 but I already own the DA* 50-135. Always seemed like way too much overlap for me and the 200 and 300 aren't appealing because I prefer the flexibility of a zoom at the longer ranges. So that leaves slow variable aperture Sigmas (BLAH!), the new Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 that is not yet out and too expensive for my budget, or finding a Sigma 100-300 f/4 which is practically impossible. Would love a new zoon in the 135-400 range!!

AWESOME! Can't wait to see your gear on there. Good riddance too by the way as I am tired of all of the cry babies on here complaining about no Full Frame and threatening to leave because there is none. Then leave! PLEASE! I wouldn't mind a FF option with Pentax but it is not the end of the world if they don't have one! Just stop with all of the negativity!!!

I believe the designation "RC" in the teleconverter stands for "rear converter."
