Pretty picture!

I'd say your wishlist is pretty far out of the mainstream. Hard to imagine what a 1:1 225mm lens would look like. Hey, I love fast primes. But, a few notable exceptions aside, that's never been the Pentax specialty.

Ha, a 225mm f/1.0 would be amazing, but I'm really hoping for something in the 200-300mm zoom range that's faster than f/4. I'm not sure that a 150-300 f/2.8 would be impossible

This roadmap is wonderful. Not because of the specific lenses (although that 550 is verrrry interesting) but because it affirms Ricoh's commitment to the K-mount.

.....
I agree.
I wonder if all those DAs off into the future are the death knell of FF though.

"high magnification zoom lens" could be very interesting if it's really really high magnification like a certain Canon lens is *crosses fingers feverishly*. It would seem ever so similar to the DA18-135 though, so I wonder what it's unique bell and whistle would be.

DA 550ish is interesting, every man and his dog has been asking for a new tele. Though I'm having difficulties picturing a mirrorless with such a beast attached... so I guess that means we can suppose more DSLRs too. I don't really get why we have to wait almost 2 years for a teleconverter, anyone have a handle on that one? Maybe they don't want to undercut sales of this 550?

Have to agree that this is really good news overall and well done to Pentax for publishing it. The cynic in me is saying that had to do something to stop haemorraging sales but since I don't have access to the sales numbers that might be unfair.

I would love to see a DA* zoom longer than 250 for my airshow photography. I'm curious to see how the DA* 60-250 + 1.4TC combination might compare to the current DA 55-300 quality-wise. I also agree very much with those that have mentioned weather sealing. It's definitely a Pentax USP for the 'consumer' lenses and one I regularly make use of, living as I do in the UK...

I'm glad I bought my FA*24 already, can't see it's resale price going down, it's still a big hole in the current line up that won't be filled any time soon.

I can't understand why so many are excited about a DA50 when it's going to be 1.7 to 2.0. I'll bet the brand new price will be about the same or more than the second hand price of the FA50/1.4 which along with being faster, has a metal mount.

Resale of my DA12-24 will take a hit though, a 12-35 WR would be fantastic

I suppose they could use the FA 50 1.7 formula which many people really love and prefer over the FA50 1.4. Otherwise there is already a DA55/1.4. If they keep it at a DA35 price point, I can see a lot of people being excited.

+1
Many folks love F/FA50/1.7. I used to own one and it's fantastic lens providing one doesn't mind hexagonal OOF highlights. Besides 50/1.7 or even f2 would make a lot more sense as budget option for the DA*55. While FA50/1.4 wasn't the best 50 ever made, it was touch too close to the DA*. F1.7 version will make it easy choice. Just as DA35/2.4 vs FA31Ltd..

Many folks will end up buying if Pentax gets it right and given their pedigree in 50s it's hard to imagine they will go wrong...

DAL35 was a $200 lens though when released, and a FA50 is low $200 secondhand. It would be hard to get excited about a slower plastic lens to save, what $20 or $30? What do I know though, it will probably be a hit. I'll bet the resale of the FA50 will go up though as it's price vs the new DA50 and the existing DA*55 is too cheap at current levels.

+1 here too.
DA or DA* remake or even the FA* re-release is long time overdue!
That lens covers one very nice FOV for APSC format and the FA*24 is on fantastic lens at that segment (best I tried for sure). I don't understand why Pentax/Hoya/Ricoh hasn't put something out there. Having to wait until at least 2014 to fill that very important gap is too long especially given that the only fast lens anywhere near (yet still too far) is FA31. And I'm sorry but DA21 simply doesn't cut it...

Hey I have the FA50/1.4 and love it, but some people will only buy new. I think it will sell for $200, but I certainly won't be buying one. I'm also not happy with the new K-01, but it seems popular enough. My general rule is, if I think it's a bad idea, it's going to be a roaring success. No wonder I don't manage my own portfolio.

my modest custodianship of the K24/2.8 pleases me no end as well
It is a great field of view

While I appreciate the lens roadmap that Pentax released today, it doesn't really address my needs. I like their chart with all their lenses, they make it look like they've really got a whole lot covered! In reality, I think their lens lineup should be depicted more like this. I don't have a graphics degree, and this was made in Excel, so pardon the poor appearance, but I think it gets the message across. What I have shaded in red is what I, and I believe a lot of other Pentaxians are hoping for. What Ricoh/Pentax released today seems to cover more of the area that I've shaded in yellow. Although, I do agree that their tele-prime in the 400-500mm range has the potential to be great. I really hope I'm wrong with my assesment, c'mon Pentax.... prove me wrong!

clearly, I had a little too much time on my hands at work today!
You must be having a lot of time on your hands indeed !

And I am truly hoping for a 500mm (or so) non-SDM lens in the near future.
I've been tempted by the Sigma but if I just knew FOR SURE that Pentax would actually produce one .... I'd be willing to wait a bit.

Good job on the visual presentation!

Is it possible for a mirrorless 645 to become the defacto Pentax FF?
